Cloud Operations Engineer (Database) - Global Cloud Services
Job Description
In this role, you will work in the position of Cloud Operations Engineer at Cloud Operations Center, responsible for running and supporting ASSA ABLOY Global Cloud Services globally, 24/7. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver & run multiple Cloud Projects / Environments for different ASSA ABLOY Business Units.

Required Seniority Level
Mid / Senior-level, with at least 5 years of experience
Objectives of this Role:
- Design, implement, and maintain cloud-based database systems for optimal performance, scalability, and security.
- Automate database operations, including provisioning, monitoring, backups, and scaling.
- Optimize database performance, storage, and cost-efficiency across cloud platforms.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and failover capabilities for cloud-hosted databases.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support cloud migrations, deployments, and troubleshooting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Design & Management: Deploy and manage relational and NoSQL databases across AWS, Azure, and OCI.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor and fine-tune database performance, indexing strategies, and query optimization.
- Security & Compliance: Implement access controls, data encryption, and security best practices in alignment with regulatory standards.
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Establish automated backup strategies, high availability architectures, and failover mechanisms.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Investigate and resolve database-related issues, collaborating with operations and development teams.
- Automation & Scripting: Develop automation scripts using Python, PowerShell, or Terraform for database provisioning and maintenance.
- Cloud Cost Optimization: Analyze and optimize database costs by leveraging cloud-native features and storage tiering.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5 to 8 years of experience as a Database Engineer, Database Administrator, or in a similar role.
- Expertise in cloud-based database management systems such as Amazon RDS, Azure SQL Database, Google Cloud SQL, or Oracle Cloud Database.
- Strong knowledge of SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or NoSQL databases like MongoDB and DynamoDB.
- Experience with DatabJase Migration.
- Experience with database performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience in database automation using Terraform, Ansible, or other infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Understanding of cloud security principles, data encryption, and access management.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- Certification in AWS Certified Database – Specialty, Azure Database Administrator Associate, or Oracle Certified Professional (OCP).
- Experience with Kubernetes, containers, and cloud-native database solutions.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps methodologies.
