Automatic sliding doors help improve efficiency and safety for the transit bus system in Monterrey, Mexico.

Forty-two bus stations, covering the 30-kilometer long transit system, were outfitted with ASSA ABLOY SL520 sliding door packages from ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems. The doors are equipped with a sensor system that sends a signal to the station door control at the same time as the bus doors open, allowing passengers safe passage, away from the highway traffic.

The Ecovía BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system opened in 2014 and is a single route serving three different municipalities in the city of Monterrey. Infrastructure and technology facilitates efficient mass transport by avoiding causes for delay. Dedicated bus lanes and high-capacity vehicles, pre-payment at stations and level-boardings – all contribute to high-quality, fast public transport.
