About The Role
Join our national team as a Special Keying & Coding Officer who will play a critical role in managing and maintaining specialised keying systems, particularly high-security and restricted access control solutions. This position will contribute to the accuracy and integrity of our keying and coding operations, providing essential technical support and service to both customers and internal teams.
Reporting to the National Keying Co-Ordinator as a Special Keying & Coding Officer, you will be instrumental in ensuring seamless execution of keying and coding processes, maintaining security standards, and directly supporting our customer service and sales teams. This role provides a balance of technical expertise, customer support, and system management, allowing you to directly impact the success of our projects while ensuring exceptional service to system integrators, locksmiths, and professional end users.
In this role, you will:
- Manage Keying & Coding Systems: Design, plan, and maintain master key systems using specialised software such as Promaster and manage restricted key platforms (e.g., Assa Abloy) to ensure compliance with security protocols.
- Handle Specialised Keying Requests: Process specially keyed orders for both residential and commercial markets, including adding new codes and re-coding keys to meet specific customer needs and maintaining strict access control protocols.
- Provide Customer Support & Technical Assistance: Offer pre- and post-sales support to customers and internal teams regarding keying and coding systems. Troubleshoot technical issues remotely and resolve product/system problems efficiently.
- Deliver Training & Skill Development: Stay updated on emerging keying technologies and security protocols. Self-train on new systems, attend relevant training sessions, and collaborate with other departments for cross-training to enhance system knowledge.
- Maintain Order Entry & System Records: Accurately process orders for restricted and electronic key systems while ensuring proper documentation of key orders, codes, and system configurations to maintain security integrity.
- Inbound & Outbound Communication: Handle inbound calls and web inquiries related to keying and coding systems, prioritize and resolve issues promptly, and follow up with customers to ensure satisfaction.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with internal departments (customer service, technical support) to address keying and coding needs and ensure alignment with security standards across the organization.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years in technical support, keying systems management, or a related technical field. Previous experience in locksmithing or security systems is highly beneficial.
- Technical Expertise: Familiarity with keying software (e.g., Promaster) and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to both electronic and mechanical keying systems.
- Attention to Detail: Precision is critical in coding and managing restricted or high-security key systems. You must be meticulous and vigilant to ensure system accuracy and security.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, determine root causes, and implement effective solutions efficiently.
- Customer Service: Exceptional communication skills to interact with customers, answer inquiries, and provide technical support to non-technical audiences.

- Security Awareness: Strong understanding of security protocols and the importance of confidentiality in managing restricted access systems.
- Organisational Skills: Ability to prioritise tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and handle customer inquiries in a timely manner.
