A flagship luxury car dealership in West London has recently undergone a significant redevelopment, from its workshops and multi-level vehicle storage to its luxury showroom. As part of the works, ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems supplied three kinds of vehicle entrance doors throughout the facility: high speed doors, sectional overhead doors and roller shutters.
Offering a cutting-edge customer experience, the newly reopened site boasts a drive-in service lobby, valet parking, covered car handover area and a large showroom and a prime location off the A4 in Brentford. ASSA ABLOY worked with architects Ayshford Sansome of Wickford, Essex on the access control strategy, while construction specialists RG Group carried out the redevelopment, which is targeting an excellent rating for its BREEAM built environment sustainability assessment.
High speed for fast access
High speed doors were fitted in all high-traffic areas. With the ability to open fully in only three seconds, they were the perfect choice for a company offering the best in customer experience.
The drive-in service entrance sees high volumes of traffic. For the peak times of morning vehicle drop-offs and evening collections, high speed doors are an ideal choice as they can handle this constant flow. They’re rated for 100% duty, meaning they won’t overheat or trip out due to sustained use.
Because the building is situated in a residential area, the state-of-the-art facility needed exterior doors that were suitable for the environment. ASSA ABLOY’s RR3000 ISO high speed doors are rated to less than 70 decibels, around the level of a conversation, which is ideal for constant use close to residential areas.
Matching the dark aesthetic of the building, the three drive-in service entrance doors were all powder coated in RAL 9005 jet black - the darkest RAL colour manufactured. Its 50mm thick insulated curtain is designed to absorb thermal heat without distorting.
In the valeting bays, we installed HS8010P fabric high speed doors. This provides a comfortable environment for cleaning cars - protecting from draughts, dirt and dust.
The majority of the high speed doors in this project are radar-activated with full automatic operation. On selected bays, we fitted a Guardian 3D laser sensor, a smart detection system which recognises the direction of travel of a vehicle, opening only when driven towards, not past. This not only avoids cross-traffic, but it also reduces the building’s energy losses.
A smooth operation
Insulated overhead sectional doors (OH1042P) were fitted in the drive-in service and handover bays and workshop, designed for a quiet and smooth operation to enhance the welcoming environment. Electric roller shutters were selected primarily for security purposes to close off the upper vehicle storage area.
ASSA ABLOY’s doors throughout have contributed to a building that skilfully combines aesthetics with safety and enhances the brand’s reputation for an excellent customer experience.
