New blue light hub opens its doors
Working in-conjunction with contractor Caddick Construction and Fletcher Rae as principle architect, ASSA ABLOY's industrial doors will play a vital role to South Cumbria's blue light services.
The multi-million pound Furness Peninsular Blue Light Hub, located in Ulverston, is the first of its kind in South Cumbria and opened its doors on Monday 8th March, creating a new operational base for the county council’s Fire and Rescue Service, Cumbria Police and North West Ambulance Service.
ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems UK supplied and installed six OH1042P sectional overhead doors as appliance bay doors. Each overhead sectional door was supplied with two rows of framed glazing, maximising essential visibility through closed doors, prior to vehicles exiting the facility.
Two designated sectional doors have been supplied with an integral pedestrian access passdoor, enabling authorised personnel fast access into and out of the appliance bays, without the need to fully open the whole door. Combining functionality with an access system which negates the need for nonessential operational cycles enhances hardware lifecycle and provides operational benefits during operation.
In addition, the company also installed 12 tube motor shutters to the training tower, which run on a group command, allowing smoke to disperse safely from the building during training exercises.
ASSA ABLOY also supplied 1 tube motor fire shutter to the reception area, which is 1 hour fire rating fully tested and certified in accordance with BS EN 1634-1:2014 + A1:2018.
