By installing a translucent hangar door, from ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, Jet Aviation obtained style, function, energy efficiency and lower maintenance.
To increase its customers among private jet owners and serve these customers better, Jet Aviation decided to expand its facility at Singapore's Seletar Airport. The new state-of-the-art hangar would provide more workspace as well as a more upscale experience for Jet Aviation's prominent clientele.
The hangar door had to be both functional and aesthetic since the 5,000 square meter building serves as both workspace and a high-profile showroom.
Jet Aviation had high demands on the service life of the door equipment. It needs to withstand Singapore's high heat and an 80 percent average humidity as well as meet the stringent fire safety requirements of Singapore.
They chose to install an ASSA ABLOY hangar door comprising five sections and measuring 94 x 13.5 meters. The door leaves are made of white translucent PVC fabric for a clean, attractive appearance that lets natural light in.
All metal parts have an enhanced corrosion-resistant finish. A solid panel is built into the bottom-center section of the door. By incorporating two pass doors into the panel, personnel can enter and exit the hangar without opening the hangar door itself.
The translucent fabric maximizes natural light and brings energy efficiencies. The door height can be adjusted to provide a cooling shade inside.
The system from ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems has no ground tracks which allows for the smooth passage for aircraft in and out of the hangar, eliminating the need to maintain floor rails, and saving on maintenance costs.
